Heute schreibe ich einen Artikel auf Deutsch.

Ich werde heute über die Designgeschichte schreiben, denn ich denke dass das sehr interessant ist für euch Leser, denn wir schreiben viel über Design.

In der vorindustriellen Geschichte gab es keine wirklichen Designer. Diese kamen erst nach der Industrialisierung, denn die Firmen brauchten einen Prototypen von dem was herrstellen also musste jemand diesen entwerfen oder besser gesagt designen. Meistens haben Künster diese Aufgabe übernommen, denn sie hatten eine gute räumliche Vorstellung und konnten sich in den Geschmack von den anonymen Kunden hineinverstetzen.

John Flaxman war einer der ersten “Designer” sozusagen. Er kam aus London und war Bildhauer. Dann arbeitete er für die Geschirrfabrik Wedgewood.

Um 1840 gab es in Manchester ca. 500 dieser “Designer”. In anderen Ländern aber auch, wie zum Beispiel Deutschland. Michael Thonet fing auch an zu designen.

Reform der Romantiker

Nach einer Zeit gab es aber immer wieder Kritik, denn es war nicht jedem sein Geschmack was dort gerade hergestellt wurde. Also kam in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts das erste “Journal of Design” raus.

Dann gab es noch Henry Cole, ein Engländischer Staatsbeamter aus London, der etwas gegen die Geschamcksverirrung moderner Designer tun wollte. Er war der Gründungsdirektor des South Kensington Museums, welches jetzt das Victoria and Albert Museum ist.

Durch die Maschinen gibt es eine viel größere Masse an Ware dadruch gibt es keinen eigenen Stil, weil die Menschen die Ware nicht mehr Hand herstellen daruch alle Sachen gleich sind und es nicht mit Herz hergestellt wurde.

1851 gab es die 1. Great Exhibition Weltausstellung und diese war ein Design Projekt. Daraus entstand dann später das Victoria & Alber Museum, der sogenannte Archetyp aller Designmuseen.

Ein Deutscher Architekt namens Gottfried Semper hielt die Great Exhilition für misslunge. Deshalb begann er in der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhundert ein Programm durchzusetzen. Daraus entstand der Beginn des moderenen Industriedesigns.

In der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts bildete sich eine Gruppe um William Morris, ein britischer Architekt, Maler und Dichter. Dieser machte den Kapitalismus für die Hässlichkeit seiner Zeit verantwortlich.Er wollte, dass alles wieder so wird wie vor der Industrialisierung. Das Mittelalter gab ihm sein Ideal und er machte eine alternativ Bewegung.

Diese alternativ Bewegung hieß Arts and Crafts aus diesen gründeten sich Gilden und Künstlerkolonien. Arts and Crafts inspirierte die Suche nach Ehrlichkeit und dem Echten.

Morris hatte eine Entfremdungstaktik, mit der er eine romantische Rebellion auslöste. (ähnlich wie Karl Marx) Er hatte eine antikapitalistische Version und diese wollte er international verbreiten. Das Magazin, “the Studio”, der Gruppe, haben viele Zivilisationsmüde Künstler gelesen.

Moderner Design (die Entstehung)

Es entstand eine Subkultur in Deutschland, die sich mit den Phänomenen der Moderne verbunden fühlten. Unter diesen Phänomenen der Moderne war auch modernen Design. Um 1900 haben sich “Werkstätten” gebildet, die Möbel und Einrichtungsgegenstände reformieren.

Die “Deutschen Werkstätten” waren sehr erfolgreich. Richard Riemerschmid, ein Kunstprofessor, der in München geboren wurde, war einer der Gestalter. Er hatte schlichte Möbel, die sich auch noch “Maschienenmöbel” nannten, die sich sehr gut verkauften. Auf vielen Ausstellungen in verschiedenen Ländern fand das “Neues Wohnen” made in Germany Aufmerksamkeit.

Design war also erst seit nach der Industrialisierung ein Thema. Wie man sieht hat nicht jeder den gleichen Geschmack aber darüber lässt sich streiten.

In the A&W Special Magazin, which is available from the 10th of January 2012 until the 13th of march 2012, they searched for 111 design icons from 11 decades. I`m going to list every icon but one out of every decade and then I`m going to write something about it.

1900-1909: The Thonet brothers designed this chair 1900 and it`s called Schreibtischfauteuil Nr. 9 better know as “Wiener Sessel”.         It is made of beechwood which just got bended and with nothing else. It is really a masterpiece.

1910-1919: Josef Gočár made a wardrobe which is called Glasschrank. He made it in 1913 and it doesn`t look like a normal wardrobe but thats what makes it special.

1920-1929: 1927 Eileen Gray designed a table which is called Adjustatable table.It`s made of glas and steel pipe. She got inspired for the table from Marcel Breuers. It`s her most known furniture.

1930-1939: Christian Dell made a lamp called 6631 Luxus in year 1934. It look old, maybe because it is but it`s really nice and classical. In the fifties it was the popularest lamp in germany.

1940-1949: 1947 the Peacock got born. Who is the father? Hans Wegner designed this chair. I really like it and it looks comfortable. It is a variation of the classical english Windsor chair.

1950-1959: Marshmellow isn`t that something to eat? Yes indeed but it is also a couch from George Nelson who created the delicious furnitur 1956. “It`s not really comfortable but it looks funny”, said the magazine.

1960-1969: Eero Aarnio made a bubble. A bubble chair and he designed it in 1968. It looks really nice like a bubble as the name says. The magazine says that it`s good to have a quiet zone.

1970-1979: This armchair looks so luxury, but when you see the colours of the fabric blind than it`s more childish but in a good way. I really like it.

1980-1989: FNP from Axel Kufus is a bookshelf which got designed in 1989. It`s actually just a simple bookshelf but it has something special and I really don`t know what it is.

1990-1999: Bookworm from Ron Arad was the best thing i saw in the magazine. This is art! It looks good and funny and I would buy it if i would see it anywere in a store.

2000-2009: I wound a really cool lamp in the magazine. It got designed by Front and it`s called Horse Lamp. Front is a group of women and they asked in their academic studies other people what are their favorit things. They found out that they have a big connection to figurativ things. So they made the horse lamp.

I`m going to write something about Flos. It`s a ligh designer brand and we also have it in stock so I had the idea of writing something about it.

The designers of Flos are Achille Castiglioni, Antonio Citterio, Edward Barber, Gino Sarfatti, Jasper Morrison, Jay Osgerby, Joris Laarman, Konstantin Grcic, Laurene Leon Boym, Marc Newson, Marcel Wanders, Marcello Ziliani, Paolo Rizzatto, Patricia Urquiola, Philippe Starck, Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Piero Lissioni (also designs a lot of stuff for Living Divani), Ron Gilad, Sebastian Wrong, Tim Derhaag, Tobia Scarpa, Johanna Grawunder, Knud Holscher, Jorge Herrera and R. & E. Boutoullec.

Flos won the Good Design Arward for lighting with their Kelvin LED light which designed Antonio Citterio.

I think the light is really nice, it is not classic but it is made easy and it looks great on a desk. You can also buy it in white.

Also Flos has a new store in Los Angeles, Carlifornia. They are really exited because LA is a really popular place where many celebritys live and go shopping so maybe someone known is coming to their store.

Bei Ruckstuhl verstehen wir uns auf die Kunst, aus Naturwerten Kulturwerte zu schaffen. Für uns ist es dabei wichtig, dass die Natur erhalten und gesund bleibt. Denn das Wohlbefinden, das dem Menschen durch eine sinnvolle Kultivierung einer gesunden Natur ermöglicht wird, ist durch nichts zu übertreffen.

The founder and first-generation owner, Carl Hansen, was a master cabinetmaker who made furniture to order as well as in small series. He opened his first workshop in Odense, Denmark, on October 28, 1908.

The company entered a second generation of growth when the founder’s son, Holger Hansen, took over the reins from his father. A master cabinetmaker himself, Holger Hansen understood the making of quality furniture from the ground up. He was also quick to discover a new breed of young Danish furniture designers that were coming onto the scene after WWII – including the then relatively unknown Hans J. Wegner.

The cooperation between Carl Hansen & Son and Hans J. Wegner began in 1949. Wegner, who trained as a master cabinetmaker before he became a designer, worked closely with Holger Hansen and his team of craftsmen to find a way to bring Wegner’s daring designs into series production. The first models, including the legendary CH_24, “The Wishbone Chair”, were introduced in 1950.

Since then Carl Hansen & Son have crafted a wide range of other Wegner chairs and tables. Many of these have achieved status of as collectors’ items and design icons in their own right.

Today, Carl Hansen & Son is led by Knud Erik Hansen, grandson of the founder. The third-generation company now produces these enduring designs in a new, dedicated facility according to the strictest quality and environmental standards, with exports throughout the world

In 1952, Pierre Paulin’s first designs caught the attention at the Thonet firm through which he discovered and mastered new materials in the manner of the American designers Eames, Saarinen and Bertoia. It is only in 1956, after responding to harry Wagemans’invitation to join Artifort, that Paulin found the means and the support he needed to realize the production of his designs. In his concern for simplicity and refusal of any lyrical effect, his designs were given numbers. His innovate productions anticipated social revolutions through the lifestyles they encouraged. At the end of the 1960’s, Paulin benefited from a close collaboration with the talented and inventive artisans of the new atelier of research and creation from “le Mobilier National”, which coincided with the renovation of the Denon wing of the Musée du Louvre, the renovation of the private apartments of the President Georges Pompidou at the Elysée and lastly the creation of furniture for the Presidential Office of François Mitterrand in 1983. Although these prestigious commissions contributed to his renown, other designs, however, permitted the public to discover the comfort of modern living. These are the designs which we have decided to present at the gallery, a place that draws them closer to the sculptural works that in essence, they are. At once sculptural and rigorously functional, they’re studied forms cradle the body in perfect harmony. A man of the future, Paulin scattered his path with poetic objects that were ahead of their time and whose rediscovery more than 30 years later inspire admiration.
